Linkin Park were one of the biggest and most influential bands to ever come out of the 2000's. They broke down barriers with their generation defining debut album, Hybrid Theory, which as of writing has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and has since been certified Diamond in the United States.
It combined aggressive rock music, with hip-hop and electronica backgrounds. An innovative way of music that spoke to a generation's worth of teenagers at the time of release. Chester Bennington's incredibly powerful voice which was contrasted perfectly by Mike Shinoda's rap vocals.
Hybrid Theory created such a whirlwind, that it is still widely talked about today. 20 years later, lead vocalist Chester Bennington has since taken his own life in his own home on July 20th 2017, not long after the release of their seventh studio album One More Light. This would force the band into a 3 year long hiatus in the wake of his death.
Amidst the current world climate [COVID-19], touring has been halted and many bands have been working on new material because they have nothing else to do. Regardless of this, the monumental 20th anniversary of the album would most certainly not be ignored, as they ended up announcing the 20th anniversary edition back in August, along with releasing previously unreleased single "She Couldn't" to promote the reissue on August 13th.
The 20th anniversary edition of Hybrid Theory would end up being released today on October 9th, for all the fans to hear newly unreleased songs and demos from their early days as a band before they were even known as Linkin Park, some of which even without the vocals of Chester Bennington, as founding frontman Mark Wakefield, who left the band in 1998, can be heard on these extremely rare songs.
